United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation ( UNESCO) was established on 16 November 1945. UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations. The organisation is composed of 193 members and 11 associate members and is headquartered in Paris. UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations for promoting œpeace education, education for sustainable development.
UNESCO is one of the world’s ik leading multidisciplinary international organisations that works for peace, human development, education, science and culture. This organisation aims to promote peace, security, sustainable development, and the preservation of cultural diversity in this world. UNESCO works towards the sustainable development of everyone and preservation of cultural diversity.
UNESCO enforces its activities through the five programme areas: education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, and communication and information.
UNESCO mobilized philosophers, artists, intellectuals from every nation. From the very beginning we debunked racist theories and we developed innovative projects that changed the world

UNESCO was founded in response to the second world war and the collapse of European empires, which led to the breakup of cultural heritage that was being controlled and appropriated by the victors.
The primary purpose of UNESCO is to promote international cooperation in education, science, culture, and communication in the service of peace, security, and sustainable development.
UNESCO works to create the conditions for dialogue among civilization, cultures and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values. It is through this dialogue that the world can achieve global vision of sustainable development encompassing observance of human rights, mutual respect and the alleviation of poverty all of which are at the heart of UNESCO’s mission and activities.
UNESCO’s mission is to contribute to the building of a culture of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information.
UNESCO is an intergovernmental organisation which was founded in 1945 under the Charter of the United Nations. It is composed of the United Nations, the Member States, the International Bureau, the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation and an Advisory Board.
